In August, your newly elected Fraternity Council gathered in person at Executive Offices in Columbus, Ohio, for the first time this biennium.
The August in person meeting takes place in Convention years only, serving as a transition for the new Council. While we had business to attend to, much of our time was spent discussing where Delta Gamma is going and how we will make thoughtful decisions about the work ahead.
As we reviewed the vision and strategic framework established last biennium, we agreed that it continues to provide a strong foundation for our work. We will continue to organize our goals and initiatives around the BAG framework: belonging, agility and growth. Our vision remains focused on a Delta Gamma where, anchored in sisterhood, belonging is universal, change is embraced and our bonds grow stronger every day.
As we move that vision forward, Council is using five consistent lenses to guide our strategic direction and decision-making: strategic alignment, sustainability, clarity of purpose, member-centered support and effective partnership. Trustees are working with their teams to identify goals and priorities, and we will spend time at our September meeting developing a system for tracking and reporting progress.
Council also reviewed several of the structures that support Delta Gamma Leadership, including our Leadership and committee appointment processes. Building on its work from the last biennium, the Volunteer Development Committee will take on the Fraternity Director appointment process in October, followed by the specialist appointment process in January. In March, following Leadership appointments, applications will open for standing committee service.
An initiative to improve our Leadership volunteer position descriptions is underway as well, helping create greater clarity around roles and expectations for those who serve.
There was also much to celebrate throughout our time together: the highest-attended Lewis Institute in its history, the launch of the new Lifetime Leadership Program, encouraging growth in early recruitment statistics and new resources for volunteers and officers. Our staff and volunteers have been hard at work this summer, and we are so grateful for all they have accomplished.
Our August meeting laid the foundation for the work ahead, and we look forward to sharing more as Council’s priorities and goals continue to take shape.
