Delta Gamma Mourns the Loss of Carol Jean Nunnally, Gamma Pi-Roanoke 

Our Delta Gamma hearts are heavy as we share the passing of Carol Jean Nunnally, Gamma Pi-Roanoke. Initiated in 1964, Carol Jean was a consistent Fraternity and Foundation volunteer, serving in many local volunteer roles, various regional roles, Nominating Committee, Foundation Governance Committee, within Leadership, on Fraternity Council, serving as Vice President: Fraternity Programming from 2002 to 2006, the Board of Advisers and Foundation Board of Trustees. In 2006, she was received the Cable Award, and in 2018, she was honored with the Loyalty Award. 

Kay Harvey, Delta Rho-Virginia Tech, shares “Carol Jean Nunnally. Intimidating until you knew her, lovable after you did. Carol Jean was always a permanent fixture in the Roanoke Valley alumnae chapter. She volunteered to do whatever needed to be done or hold any office where she could help. I may never have accepted or interviewed for any other position with Delta Gamma without the ‘encouragement,’ or more precisely, a big PUSH from CJ. Her push persuaded me to do more in our Fraternity than I had ever imagined that I would. I miss her ‘I get it’ glances, her support, our long conversations tossing ideas back and forth, our talks about anything and everything. I miss her!” 

“Carol Jean embodied what it means to live a life anchored in Delta Gamma,” shared Fraternity President Joanna Rosenow Shook, Alpha Upsilon-Southern Methodist. “Throughout the years, she gave her time, wisdom, leadership and, perhaps most importantly, her heart to our Fraternity and Foundation. Carol Jean had a remarkable ability to see what was needed, step forward and bring others alongside her. Her impact can be seen in the many members she encouraged, the leaders she helped shape and the countless ways she strengthened Delta Gamma. We are deeply grateful for her extraordinary legacy of service and sisterhood, and she will be greatly missed.”
