The Delta Gamma Foundation’s mission stays at the heart of all we do, and “Mission Moments” help keep that mission front and center. Mission Moments feature stories, quotes, videos and photos from a sister or Service for Sight organization, explaining how the Foundation — and our donors — have made a meaningful impact on their lives. We’ll add a new story each month, so be sure to check back for updates. Learn more about the Foundation’s impact here.

“I was encouraged to apply for the Sisters Helping Sisters scholarship because financial support plays an important role in my ability to stay involved and fully engaged in my college experience. I work during the school year and rely on scholarships to help fund my education while pursuing a rigorous pre-medical path and leadership roles on campus. Delta Gamma has given me opportunities to grow as a leader, serve my community, and build lifelong friendships, and I want to continue contributing to our chapter in meaningful ways. This scholarship would help me remain actively involved in Delta Gamma while continuing my volunteer work at Providence Hospital, teaching karate to children, running blood drives, and preparing for medical school. To me, this scholarship represents sisters supporting one another so we can continue pursuing our goals and giving back to others.
Programs like Sisters Helping Sisters are important because they make it possible for more women to fully participate in the Delta Gamma experience, regardless of financial circumstances. Sorority involvement provides leadership opportunities, service experiences, mentorship, and lifelong friendships, but these opportunities should be accessible to every sister who wants to be involved. Financial support allows members to remain engaged, give back to their communities, and grow as leaders without the added pressure of financial barriers. When sisters support one another in this way, the impact extends far beyond one individual. It strengthens the entire chapter, encourages academic and personal success, and reinforces the values of service and sisterhood that Delta Gamma stands for. Ensuring programs like this continue means giving every sister the chance to thrive and contribute to the community.”
Harman Goeller, Delta Chi-UC Davis“I’m currently a third-year veterinary student at St. George’s University in Grenada! My journey began at UC Davis, where I was initiated into Delta Chi chapter of Delta Gamma. At 18, I moved across the country to California, seeking both independence and a sense of belonging. I quickly found that home within Delta Gamma.
From living in the chapter house during my sophomore year to the lasting bond of support and understanding from my sisters, Delta Gamma became my foundation. The sisterhood has not only provided me with unwavering encouragement but has also helped me develop leadership skills that I continue to carry with me. As I pursue my degree in veterinary medicine, I have found an additional way to continue to foster leadership skills in myself and my colleagues through the Women’s Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative, where I serve as our chapter’s president.
This graduate fellowship lessens the financial burden of my student loans. Vet school has always been my dream, but that dream comes with a huge price tag. This allows me to reduce the amount of loans I take out to pay for tuition and will eventually contribute to my financial security.”
U.S. Space & Rocket Center Education FoundationService for Sight grant recipient, U.S. Space & Rocket Center Education Foundation (Huntsville, AL) and their Space Camp for Interested Visually Impaired Students (SCIVIS)
The 2025 Service for Sight grant provided need-based tuition assistance, via partial or full scholarships, for students with visual impairments who wish to attend SCIVIS. This annual STEM program offers a unique, fully accessible learning experience and attracts participants from around the world. In 2025, sixteen students from nine states received partial scholarships through this grant, making it possible for them to attend despite financial hardship.
Access to hands-on, immersive STEM education remains particularly limited for students who are visually impaired. The SCIVIS program was created to bridge this gap by delivering a fully accessible, hands-on learning environment that empowers participants both academically and personally. The primary goals of SCIVIS include, (1) Accessible STEM learning by providing visually impaired students with interactive, tactile, and technology-supported STEM activities. (2) Building independence and self-efficacy by encouraging positive beliefs about personal capabilities. (3) Enhancing life skills and self-esteem with structured challenges and problem-solving exercises that develop critical life skills and confidence. (4) Higher education and STEM career awareness through mentorship from successful visually impaired professionals. (5) Enhance social and communication skills through team-building exercises and collaborative projects promoting peer interaction, teamwork and leadership. By combining immersive activities with a supportive community, SCIVIS not only teaches STEM concepts but also cultivates independence, self-advocacy, and a lifelong passion for learning.
