After receiving a B.A. in drama from the University of Michigan Christine moved to New York City to pursue her dream. She has had an illustrious career appearing on Broadway, television and movies. Her breakthrough role was portraying the character Gail Packer opposite Al Pacino in the movie …And Justice for All in 1979.  

In 1984 she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Hazel Zanussi in the movie Swing Shift. In 1995 she won an Academy Award for Best Short Film, Live Action for the film Lieberman in Live. That same year she was cast ins the television series Chicago Hope portraying Dr. Kate Austin. She was nominated for numinous awards in this role and won both a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award in 1998. In 2009 she returned to Broadway joining the cast of God in Carnage. In 2011 she starred with Morgan Freeman in the Broadway play 8, which was based on the real-life federal trial that overturned California’s Proposition 8 ban on equal marriage.
