Polina first stepped into an ice rink when she was just 20 months old. Her mother was a figure skating coach who had learned how to coach under Alexei Mishin. At 4 years old Polina was taking classes in both skating and ballet. Staking professionally until 2020 she has performed at some of the largest and most well-known skating competitions in the world.
In 2011she placed 7th at the U.S. Championships, the next year she placed 6th and the following year she won the title. She competed at the senior level for the first time in 2014 where she won the silver medal and was named to the U.S. Olympics team. She would finish 9th at the Olympics that year with a total score of 183.25. A month after the Olympics she competed in the Worlds Championships finishing 8th overall with a score of 187.50. She also won the gold at the U.S. International Classic. At the 2014 Cup of China, she finished 4th and at the 2014 NHK Trophy she finished 8th. At the 2015 U.S. Championship, she placed 4th overall and was named to both the Four Continents and World teams. At the 2015 Four Continents she won the gold. At the 2015 Rostelecom Cup, she won the silver. Taking some time off after an injury in August 2016 she returned to skating in March 2017. Another injury resulted in her not competing in the 2018 – 2019 season and she announced her retirement in 2020.
