Volunteers are the heart and soul of Delta Gamma, playing a vital role in sustaining our mission. Through their dedication and support, volunteers help ensure our values and vision continue to thrive. Volunteering for Delta Gamma not only strengthens our sisterhood, but also brings personal and professional rewards. It’s a chance to expand your network, gain valuable leadership experience and make lasting connections within the sisterhood. Above all, it’s an opportunity to give back to the organization that has shaped you, creating a lasting impact on future generations of women.
Delta Gamma offers three distinct pathways to volunteering at the local chapter or group level, each providing unique opportunities for growth and impact. Whether you’re mentoring our collegiate members, managing our chapter facilities, or helping with event coordination, there is a role for every skill set and interest.
“Leadership” is a term in Delta Gamma that primarily refers to volunteers who serve at the regional level or above. Leadership volunteers include a variety of roles that ensure Delta Gamma’s continued success. In addition to contributing to organizational strategy, they support multiple chapters or groups within a region, often mentoring both collegians and alumnae. These roles allow members to apply their skills in impactful ways and are primarily done remotely.
Leadership volunteers are appointed by Fraternity Council or the Foundation Board of Trustees. Most positions are appointed for a two-year term that begins at The Leadership Collective, which is held in June of odd numbered years. Occasionally, vacancies occur mid-term and are filled on an ongoing basis as needs arise.
Note: Midterm vacancies are available year-round and listed here. The 2025-2027 Leadership appointment process has concluded. The 2027-2029 Leadership appointment process will begin in the Fall of 2026. The application will be advertised.
Fraternity Council provides governance and strategic oversight for Delta Gamma. Members of Council guide organizational policies, champion the mission, and support members across the country. This prestigious role is an opportunity for visionary leaders to leave a lasting impact.
Note: Nominations and applications for Fraternity Council are open during designated periods.

The Foundation Board of Trustees stewards Delta Gamma’s philanthropic mission, overseeing scholarships, grants, and funding initiatives that empower members and communities. Trustees play a vital role in advancing Service for Sight and other impactful programs.
Note: Nominations and applications for the Foundation Board of Trustees are accepted during specific timeframes.

Short-term volunteers contribute to one-off projects, such as reviewing copy or data analysis. These volunteer opportunities should take no more than five hours to complete and are not on a recurring basis.

The time commitment depends on the volunteer role and what your schedule allows. That’s part of what makes volunteering for Delta Gamma so great – there is an opportunity for all types of schedules!
As a Delta Gamma volunteer, you are not alone! Volunteers have access to training, handbooks, and other resources specific to their role. All local volunteers are supported by regional team members who can answer all of your questions and guide you throughout your volunteer experience.
No, any alumna can volunteer immediately following graduation. However, we prefer that you wait four years after graduation before volunteering with your own collegiate chapter unless special permission is granted.
Many local volunteers live near the chapter they serve, but some volunteers also serve remotely. Travel depends on the role you hold and what’s needed for that position. Travel expectations will be communicated, if there are any.
Yes! Becoming a remote volunteer is great for any alumna wanting to share her time, expertise and love for Delta Gamma with collegiate chapter officers. You’ll still be able to develop relationships with collegians and mentor them, but the communication will likely take place over phone calls, texts, FaceTime, email and Zoom.
