Potential Members' FAQs

How can I find out when formal recruitment will be held on my campus?
Formal recruitment is planned and implemented by your Greek Affairs or collegiate Panhellenic office. They usually have a Web site listing more information or you can always give them a call.

What is the difference between formal recruitment and continuous open bidding (COB)?
Formal Recruitment is a more structured and all groups participate. It usually consists of 3-5 days of events early in the semester or just prior to the start of the semester. Continuous open bidding or COB, is a more informal way of recruiting new members that happens throughout the year. Only chapters who have vacancies in their membership are allowed to participate.

How do I find out if Delta Gamma is participating in COB?
You can contact your local Delta Gamma chapter, the Greek Affairs office or your local collegiate Panhellenic office.

How do I obtain a Delta Gamma Sponsor Form?
Sponsor forms can be obtained by asking family friends, teacher, or counselors to write a sponsor form for you. You'd be surprised how many Delta Gammas you may not know! The National Panhellenic Conference has alumnae Panhellenic groups organized throughout the U.S. and Canada. You can contact one of these organizations and they will assist you in obtaining sponsor forms for all 26-member NPC groups. In addition, any initiated Delta Gamma can sponsor a potential member for membership in Delta Gamma.

Who is considered a Delta Gamma legacy?
Granddaughters, daughters, sisters or the same step-relations of Delta Gammas are considered Delta Gamma legacies.

Do Delta Gamma legacies receive special consideration?
Delta Gamma legacies do receive special consideration. After all, they hopefully have had a lifetime of teaching and experiences involved to some extent with Delta Gamma. Collegiate Delta Gamma chapters are asked to invite a legacy to at least one invitational round, if Panhellenic rules allow.

Does being a legacy of another sorority hurt my chances of pledging Delta Gamma?
A legacy of another chapter does not hurt your chances of pledging Delta Gamma. We understand that college women may find that they do not always feel comfortable in the chapter that they are a legacy.
